There was a small house. BROWN Doggie and a WHITE Pussycat lived there. It was DOG´S and CAT’S birthday. They were thinking about their birthday party. They got an idea. They will bake a birthday CAKE. Just like MOM and DAD do for their KIDS on their birthdays.
Pussycat didn’t know how to make a CAKE. Doggie knows. It will be easy. We’ll put food we like in the CAKE. It will be a very good CAKE.
They took a big SILVER pot and put FLOUR, BUTTER and EGGS in. Then they put MILK in it. Pussycat thought that CAKE must be sweet . She poured SUGAR into the pot. Doggie thought, that it must be salty too. He put SALT in the pot. Then they put all the foods they liked into the pot: CHEESE and CHOCOLATE, PINK CANDY and ORANGE CARROTS, FOUR ONIONS and SIX NUTS, GREEN CUCUMBERS and RED APPLES, FIVE SAUSAGES and TWO GINGERBREAD.
I like MICE, said Pussycat, and added ONE MOUSE to the pot. I like bones, said Doggie and put THREE bones in the pot. Finally they stirred everything. They put the CAKE to bake.
The dough was first WHITE and then YELLOW. When it was BROWN, they took the CAKE out of the oven. It was beautiful, but too hot. Doggie and Pussycat took the CAKE to the garden. They waited until it was cold.
A big bad DOG was walking around the house. He was hungry. He saw the CAKE and ate it all. Doggie and Pussycat were looking for the CAKE. They found the big bad DOG. He was lying in the garden and his stomach hurt so much. Doggie and Pussycat were hungry and had no CAKE. Their friends invited them to visit. There was a surprise. The GIRLS and BOYS baked them a beautiful CAKE. Doggie and Pussycat had a happy birthday.
There was a small HOUSE at the end of the CITY. Dog and a cat lived there. Doggie and Pussycat woke up in the morning. The SUN WAS SHINING beautifully outside. They looked at the calendar and found out that today was their birthday. “WHAT are we going to do?”, asked Pussycat. “We are going to have a birthday party and bake a cake”, said Doggie. Just like PEOPLE do when they have a birthday.
“HOW do we make a cake?, asked Pussycat. Doggie said: “That’s easy. We take all the good food we like and put it in the cake. Then it will be the best cake ever.” Pussycat and Doggie were very HAPPY and went into the KITCHEN to prepare everything. They put on their APRONS and took the POT and the WOODEN SPOONS. We will work as COOKS and BAKERS.
They put flour, butter and eggs in the pot. Then they put milk in. “The cake must be sweet,” said Pussycat. She poured sugar into the pot. “It must be salty too,” said Doggie. He put salt in the pot. Then they put all the foods they liked into the pot: cheese and honey, chocolate and garlic, candy and carrots, onions and nuts, cucumbers and apples, sausages and gingerbread. “HOW MUCH cream do we put in the cake?”, Doggie asked. Pussycat wanted to put a lot of cream in because she LOVED cream. “And HOW MUCH bread shall we put in the cake?”, asked Pussycat. Doggie didn’t want to put bread in because he DID NOT LIKE bread at all.
In the end, they added a mouse to the cake because Pussycat really LIKED mice. And they also added one bone, because Doggie realy LOVED bones. Finally, they mixed it all up and put the cake in the oven to bake.
The cake was big and the cat and dog were very EXCITED to eat the cake a lot.
The cake was baking, bubbling and frying. Doggie was IMPATIENT. He was walking around wanted to know WHEN the cake would be finished. Then they took the cake out of the oven. The cake was beautiful, but too hot. Doggie and Pussycat took the cake to the GARDEN. They waited until the cake was cold.
A big BAD dog was walking around the house. It WAS HUNGRY. He saw the cake and ate it all. Soon IT STARTED TO RAIN outside. Doggie and Pussycat went to check the cake. There was no cake in the garden. Pussycat and Doggie were SURPRISED. “WHERE is the cake? WHAT happened?”, Pussycat asked. “WHO took it?”, asked Doggie. Then they saw the big BAD dog. He was lying in the GARDEN and his stomach hurt very badly. Doggie and Pussycat were very SAD. They were HUNGRY and they had no cake. Then their friends came and invited them to visit. There was a surprise for Pussycat and Doggie. The girls and boys baked them a big cake. Doggie and Pussycat were very HAPPY and had a wonderful birthday.
Sometime in the future, a new life was born.
Somewhere under the surface, a small flower was growing. She was like a baby.
The small flower looked at the world around her. There was only dirt and a few small stones.
“Wow, this looks so different from the world I dreamed of when I was a tiny seed.”
Then she heard a deep voice behind her. She saw old grandfather Worm.
“Just stay in your hole. It’s much better here than on the surface,” he told her.
“But, in my dreams I saw green rivers, bees and butterflies with colourful wings. Children were playing. I have to get to the surface, to meet my dreams. Goodbye, my friend.”
“Wait, wait. Your dreams are very beautiful, but everything is different now.”
“Really? What happened?”
“The Earth has a high fever. The forests are disappearing.”
“That’s really terrible. But what happened to all the birds and their nests? Do they live in the cities now? What is life like in the cities?”
“Cities are all made of concrete, metal and glass. People don’t leave their homes anymore; it’s very hot everywhere. They have no time for their children and for nature.”
“Grandpa Worm, tell me about today’s children.”
“The children spend all their days in front of computers and TVs. They don’t play outside anymore”
“This is bad. We have to do something, Grandpa Worm.”
“I suggest we stay right down here. It’s more safe.”
“No, Grandpa, that’s not how we do things. People and children need help. Let’s go up to the sun!”
A small boy saw something new on the ground in front of his house.
He thought it was a toy. He didn’t know how to play with it. He called his father to help him.
His dad told him that it wasn’t a toy, but a daisy growing from the ground.
“A daisy? What is that?”
“It’s a flower, a living thing. There were a lot of them when I was young.“
“It’s so beautiful. But it’s going to die in the hot sun.”
“You’re right, son. We need to water it well.”
“Don’t worry, Daddy. I’ll take care of it. My friends will come and help me.”
The boy called his friends and showed them the little flower. Together they watered the daisy and protected it from the hot sun.
They also made a plan to save the Earth and all the living things on it. They told other people about the daisy and informed the media about it.
The children created the Save Daisy program. They hoped that the world will be beautiful again and there would be a lot of daisies and other plants on it.
