Farytale About The Last Prince of Lithuania
Once upon a time, when Lithuanians still looked strangely at the edible flowers planted in Queen Bona Sforza’s gardens, which we now know as artichokes, a son was born to the rulers. No one questioned what the boy should be named. Of course, just like his father! Could there be a better name for a future king than that of the clever military leader Sigismund? Wishing her son to become a respected duke, his mother added the Italian name Augustus. This was also the name given to the most notable rulers of the Roman Empire. Furthermore, it was the name for those who, like Sigismund, were born in the month of August.
