Don Quixote’s Big Adventure
Once upon a time, there was a man named Alonso. He loved reading stories about brave knights and beautiful princesses. He read so much that one day he said:
“I will be a knight too!”
He put on his SILVER armor, took a big lance, and climbed onto his BROWN HORSE, Rocinante. Now, he had a new name: Don Quixote!
A Friend and a Lady
Every knight needs a lady. Don Quixote imagined that a girl named Aldonza was a princess. He called her Dulcinea.
Every knight also needs a friend! So Don Quixote asked his funny neighbor Sancho Panza to go with him.
Sancho rode a GREY DONKEY named Jumento. Together, they went on a big adventure!
The Windmills!
One day, Don Quixote saw THREE big windmills. But he thought they were giants!
“I will fight them!” he shouted.
He ran and ran… but the windmill WHOOSH! spun its arms and threw him into the air!
He landed on the GREEN grass, rolling like a RED APPLE falling from a tree.
Sancho laughed and laughed!
The SHEEP Army!
Another day, Don Quixote saw many WHITE SHEEP.
But he thought they were enemies! He grabbed his lance, ready to fight!
The shepherds, who were eating BREAD and YELLOW CHEESE, got mad.
They threw little stones at Don Quixote!
“Ouch! Ouch!” he said, running away.
The LIONS!
Later, Don Quixote found TWO GOLDEN LIONS in a cage.
“I will fight them!” he said.
But the LIONS just yawned and went back to sleep.
Sancho laughed and laughed!
Going Back Home
After many adventures, Don Quixote was tired.
He went home, where his GRANDMOTHER and SISTER were waiting.
They gave him a big plate of CHICKPEA STEW, a glass of WHITE MILK, and FOUR pieces of bread.
MUNCH, MUNCH!
As he ate, he told them all about his adventures.
And so, Don Quixote’s story teaches us to dream big and be brave!
THE END!

Don Quixote of La Mancha
In a small place in SPAIN, there lived Alonso Quijano, a hidalgo of THIN build, passionate about books of chivalry. He read so much about knights, castles, and battles that he began to confuse REAL life with fantasy. ONE DAY, he decided to become a knight-errant and set out in search of adventures. He put on old armor, named his horse Rocinante, and called himself Don Quixote of La Mancha. He also chose a lady to whom he would dedicate his deeds: Dulcinea del Toboso, though in reality, she was a peasant named Aldonza Lorenzo.
FIRST JOURNEY
Full of enthusiasm, Don Quixote left ONE MORNING without telling anyone. On his first journey, he was beaten several times and returned home INJURED. His family, worried about his SANITY, decided to burn his books of chivalry so he would stop imagining a REAL world that did not exist.
SECOND JOURNEY
After recovering, Don Quixote set out again, but this time accompanied by Sancho Panza, a NAÏVE peasant who agreed to be his squire in exchange for the promise of riches. Together, they embarked on a series of adventures where Don Quixote BELIEVED he saw things that were not REAL.
ONE AFTERNOON, he saw some windmills and THOUGHT they were giants. He charged at them with his lance, but the HUGE blades knocked him down. Sancho tried to convince him they were only windmills, but Don Quixote INSISTED that an evil wizard had transformed them.
He also confused a flock of sheep with battling armies and ran to fight them, but the shepherds pelted him with stones. On another occasion, he wanted to face some caged lions, but the animals didn’t even look at him.
At an inn, Don Quixote saw a puppet show and THOUGHT it was a REAL fight. To “rescue” a cardboard lady, he destroyed the stage with his sword, causing a huge problem.
THE KNIGHT OF THE WHITE MOON AND THE END OF DON QUIXOTE
After many misfortunes, Don Quixote arrived in Barcelona, where a MYSTERIOUS knight challenged him to a duel. In REALITY, it was his friend, the bachelor Sansón Carrasco, in disguise. Sansón defeated him and demanded that he abandon the life of a knight and return home.
Don Quixote, DEFEATED and out of strength, returned to his village. Shortly after, he fell ILL, and on his deathbed, he regained his SANITY. FINALLY, he REALIZED that his dreams of being a knight-errant were not REAL and said goodbye to Sancho and his niece. DAYS LATER, he died as Alonso Quijano, but his story lived on, becoming one of the greatest works of LITERATURE.
