The adventures of Cipollino

Cipollino is a little onion boy. He lives in a small HOUSE with his family. His father, Cipollone, is a SHOEMAKER. He fixes old shoes.

One day, Cipollino sees a strange lemon. WHO is he? He is Prince Lemon, and he’s very MEAN! The prince does not like poor people. WHY is he so mean? Nobody knows!

The prince’s guards come to the village and shout, “WHERE is Cipollone?”. “I am here,” he says. He is scared. The guards take him away, and Cipollino feels SAD.

“I must help my father!” says Cipollino. So, he leaves his HOUSE and goes into the FOREST. It is a SUNNY day.

He meets a CARPENTER.

WHAT are you doing?” Cipollino asked.

“I am making a new door,” said the CARPENTER. “And WHO are you?”

“I am Cipollino. I need to save my father,” he says. He feels BRAVE.

Cipollino walks until the prince’s CASTLE. The sky is GREY.

HOW can I get inside?” he wonders.

Then he saw a GARDENER cutting trees.

WHEN do the guards leave the castle?” Cipollino asks.

“At night,” the GARDENER whispers. “But be careful!”

Cipollino waits until night. The WIND is blowing, and he feels a little SCARED, but he doesn’t give up!

Inside the castle, he finds his father. “Papa! I am here!” he says. He is very EXCITED. They run outside together. They are FREE and HAPPY.

The next day, the WEATHER is SUNNY. Everyone in the village says “Cipollino is a hero!”

The adventures of Cipollino

A long time ago, in a SMALL village, lived an onion boy named Cipollino. His family was POOR, but they were KIND people. Cipollino’s father, Cipollone, worked hard every day because he wanted a better life for his son. He was a SHOEMAKER.

ONE DAY, the cruel Prince Lemon arrived in the village. He ruled over the land like a GREEDY king. The people were AFRAID of him but they had no choice than paying him taxes.

Cipollino’s father stood up and said, “This is not FAIR!” But the prince’s guards arrested him. Cipollino felt ANGRY and SAD. He said, “I must save my father!”

So, Cipollino left his home and traveled through the COUNTRY. He walked for SEVERAL DAYS until he reached a BIG castle. On his journey, he met people from different COUNTRIES: a FRENCH grape, an ITALIAN tomato, and a SPANISH orange. They all suffered under the prince’s rule.

Cipollino also met an OLD doctor, who asked him if he was in good HEALTH.

“Yes,” Cipollino answered. “But my heart is BROKEN because my father is in prison.”

“I UNDERSTAND your pain,” the doctor said. “But you must STAY STRONG.”

LATER THAT NIGHT, Cipollino climbed up into the castle using a rope. The guards were LAZY and didn’t see him. Inside, he found his father.

“Papa! I KNOW a way out!” Cipollino whispered. He unlocked the door and helped his father escape. They ran away QUICKLY.

The next MORNING, the village gathered and cheered Cipollino. All the people were EXCITED because the prince was gone! “We are FREE!” they shouted.

From that MOMENT, Cipollino and his friends started a NEW life. They no longer felt AFRAID, and their HEALTH improved. Cipollino learned that BRAVERY and KINDNESS can change the world.
