Cipollino is a LITTLE onion BOY. He lives in a SMALL HOUSE with his FAMILY. His FATHER’s name is Cipollone and he fixes old shoes for work.
ONE DAY, Cipollino SEES a strange YELLOW LEMON with his TWO RED GUARDS. They come to the VILLAGE and shout: “Where is Cipollone?”. “I am here,” he says. He is SCARED. The GUARDS take him away, and Cipollino FEELS very SAD.
“I MUST HELP my FATHER!” says Cipollino. So, he leaves his HOUSE and goes into the FOREST. It is a SUNNY day.
While walking, Cipollino meets a man. He is making a NEW door for his HOUSE.
Cipollino says: “I am Cipollino. I NEED to save my FATHER,” he says. He FEELS brave.
Cipollino walks to the PRINCE’s CASTLE. The sky is GREY.
THEN he SEES a GARDENER cutting GREEN trees. “HOW can I get inside?” he asks.
The GARDENER says: “The GUARDS leave at NIGHT. THEN you can go in! But be CAREFUL!”
Cipollino waits until NIGHT. He SEES a lot of stars in the SKY. They give him courage.
He gets inside the CASTLE and he finds his FATHER. “DAD! I am here!” he says. They run outside together. They are FINALLY FREE and HAPPY.
The NEXT DAY, the SUN is high in the bright BLUE SKY. Everyone in the VILLAGE cheers: “Cipollino is a hero!”

ONE DAY, Cipollino SAW a strange lemon. WHO was he? That was PRINCE Lemon. He did not LIKE POOR people. But WHY was he so mean? Nobody KNEW!
The prince’s GUARDS came to the village and shouted, “WHERE is Cipollone?” Cipollino’s FATHER was SCARED. “I am here,” he said. The GUARDS took him away, and Cipollino FELT SAD.
“I MUST HELP my FATHER!” said Cipollino. So, he packed his bag and left his HOUSE.
Cipollino walked into the FOREST. The weather was WARM, and the SUN was shining. He met a CARPENTER.
“WHAT are you doing?” Cipollino asked.
“I am making a NEW door,” said the CARPENTER. “And WHO are you?”
“I am Cipollino. I NEED to save my FATHER,” he said, bravely.
Cipollino walked and walked until he reached the PRINCE’s CASTLE. The sky was CLOUDY NOW.
“HOW can I get inside?” he wondered.
THEN he SAW a GARDENER who was cutting trees with his scissors.
“WHEN do the GUARDS leave the castle?” Cipollino asked.
“At night,” the GARDENER whispered. “But be CAREFUL!”
Cipollino waited until it was dark. The WIND was blowing, and he FELT a LITTLE SCARED, but he didn’t give up!
With a ROPE, he climbed into the CASTLE. Inside, he found his FATHER. “Papa! I am here!” he said, FEELING EXCITED.
Cipollino used a KEY to open the door. They ran outside, FEELING FREE and HAPPY.
The NEXT DAY, the SUN was high in the sky again. Everyone in the VILLAGE cheered, “Cipollino is a hero!”.
A LONG time ago, in a SMALL VILLAGE, lived an onion BOY named Cipollino. His FAMILY was POOR, but they were kid people. Cipollino’s FATHER, Cipollone, worked HARD every day because he wanted a BETTER life for his SON.
ONE DAY, the cruel Prince Lemon arrived in the VILLAGE. He ruled over the land like a greedy king. The people were afraid of him, but they had no choice but to pay him taxes.
Cipollino’s FATHER stood up and said, “This is UNFAIR!” But the PRINCE’s GUARDS arrested him. Cipollino said, “I MUST save my FATHER!”
So, Cipollino left his HOME and travelled through the country. He walked for SEVERAL DAYS until he reached a big CASTLE. On his journey, he met people from different countries: a grape from France, a tomato from Italy, and an orange from Spain. They all suffered under the PRINCE’s rule.
Cipollino also met an OLD doctor, who asked him if he was in good HEALTH.
“Yes,” Cipollino answered. “But my heart is BROKEN because my FATHER is in prison.”
“I UNDERSTAND your PAIN,” the doctor said. “But you MUST stay STRONG.”
LATER THAT NIGHT, Cipollino climbed into the CASTLE using a rope. The GUARDS were LAZY and didn’t SEE him. Inside, he found his FATHER.
“Papa! I KNOW a way out!” Cipollino whispered. He unlocked the door and HELPED his FATHER escape. They ran away QUICKLY.
THE NEXT MORNING, the VILLAGE gathered and cheered Cipollino. All the people were excited because the PRINCE was gone! “We are FREE!” they shouted.
From that moment, Cipollino and his friends started a NEW life. They no longer FELT afraid, and their HEALTH improved. Cipollino learned that bravery and kindness can change the world.
