FINE
A long time ago, in a SMALL VILLAGE in Spain called Tormes, there was a BOY named Lázaro. His FAMILY was very POOR. His DAD had been arrested for a crime, and his MUM couldn’t take care of him alone. So she sent him to live with a blind man who seemed wise but was actually not kind.
The blind man didn’t give him enough FOOD, and Lázaro was always HUNGRY. Since the man wouldn’t feed him properly, Lázaro began to take small pieces of BREAD and other things in secret. Even though he knew it wasn’t right, he also knew he couldn’t SURVIVE without eating. That’s how he learned his first big lesson: sometimes life isn’t fair, and you have to be SMART to move forward.
Later, Lázaro went to live with a priest. He was also very strict and gave him even less FOOD. Once again, Lázaro had to find a way to feed himself without being caught. He learned that not everyone who looks kind really is, and that poverty was everywhere.
After that, he met a noble-looking squire who seemed WEALTHY, but in truth, he had nothing. They lived together in an empty HOUSE, with no FOOD or furniture. Lázaro then realized that things aren’t always what they seem, and many people hide their true lives.
After many struggles, Lázaro FINALLY found a job as a town crier, ANNOUNCING news in the CITY. At last, he was no longer HUNGRY and could live with more peace. Over time, he MARRIED a woman named Doña Guiomar, and although they were never RICH, they built a more stable life together.
Lázaro’s story teaches us that life is not always EASY, but with intelligence, effort, and cleverness, we can move forward—even when the road is DIFFICULT.
